DESCRIPTION: The National Association of Dental Plans (NADP) seeks a self-starter government relations professional to assist in execution of NADP's government relations (GR) strategy with a specific focus on state legislative and regulatory activity who will report to the Director of Government Relations. This position is part of a team effort focusing on implementation of health reform legislation and other governmental actions impacting the dental benefits industry. The positions responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • tracking and reporting on state and federal legislation/regulation impacting the dental benefits industry,
  • preparing reports and postings of materials related to NADP GR priorities,
  • developing internal news articles related to GR activities,
  • supporting NADP volunteer groups engaged in GR activities,
  • tracking health news and related reports of agencies, legislatures, associations, and other organizations impacting GR priorities
  • assisting in the support of NADP's federally qualified PAC, and
  • willingness to travel (potential for 15+ days of overnight travel per year)

 

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree with 2-3 or more years of experience in government relations field with the following capabilities:

(NOTE: Advanced degree in government relations or public affairs may substitute for 1-2 years of experience.)

  • experience reviewing legislation and regulations and/or association background preferred
  • strong computer skills including use of the internet & social media as well as Microsoft office products
  • extensive use of Word and Excel,
  • highly organized; able to handle multiple projects,
  • excellent writing skills,
  • ability to work with minimal supervision after initial training,

 

LOCATION: NADP is headquartered in Dallas, Texas and employees currently work remotely with most employees in the DFW area.

 

SALARY/BENEFITS: NADP salaries are currently benchmarked to the median of ASAE data for trade organizations of similar budget and staff sizes with national scope. In addition to salary, there is potential for up to a 5% annual bonus based on performance. NADP also provides a benefit stipend of approximately 95% of health/dental/vision premiums of NADP offered coverage and an employer matching contribution up to 5% of salary deferral into self-directed 401K with a 3-year cliff.

 

NADP provides 8 holidays and 2 personal days with pay each year; 10 days of paid vacation (increases to 15 days after 10 years of employment); and one day of sick leave each month (can accrue to 240-hour maximum). Tuition assistance for position related course work is also provided.
